What Is Tony Currently Teaching? Aiki Peace Week Seminar
On Thursday 20th September, for their 7th year, Sensei Tony Wilden 5th Dan and the Arun Aikido Club hosted their unique Aiki Peace Seminar in West Sussex UK as part of the United Nations peace celebrations.
Sensei Piers Cooke 7th Dan and Adrian O'Brien from Coldharbour Aikido Club in Surrey UK joined us. Plus Sensei Neil Starks 5th Dan and Mike Lewis from Ryusui Ryu in Sussex UK also joined us to celebrate peace.
Sensei Tony took the warm up, including breathing technique, tibetan yoga, aiki exercises, and chi kung, all designed to release stress, aid relaxation, improve flexibility, and balance your energy centres (chakras).
Sensei Neil covered techniques practiced in a more fluid way with a focus on timing and non-resistance. We also looked at using atemi to distract and unbalance to control the centre of our training partners.
Sensei Piers included fast flowing techniques practised in a relaxed way which
included strong rear attacks. We learnt the importance of not resisting, and moving freely mentally and physically. He took us through a unique meditation journey that had a very relaxing effect.
At the end of class Sensei Piers awarded a copy of the Art of Peace book donated by Sensei Tony. It covers many of the sayings of Aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei. The lucky recipient was Kate... well done :)
After an excellent Aiki Peace seminar, with mat fees, student donations, and Arun Aikido Club donation we raised £110 which was sent to Aiki Extensions for their important conflict resolution work.

Ladies Pressure Point Self Defence Seminar
On Sunday 7th October 2018, Sensei Tony Wilden hosted a unique Ladies only Self Defence Seminar in Bognor Regis, West Sussex UK.
Although we had over 25 ladies interested, only 6 booked their place, but only 3 ladies attended this seminar. The cancellations were for a variety of reasons... illness, lack of babysitter, etc.
Some of our seminars are fully booked (max. 20), and unfortunately a few have a lower attendance. BUT, we teach the full seminar plan regardess of numbers, which really benefitted those 3 lucky ladies :)
As my son Robin, and daughter Natasha also help me teach, these ladies had one-to-one tuition... and they loved it. Robin and I were receiving the techniques, and we had to tell the ladies to do the moves hard on us. After a while, with Natasha's encouragement we were certainly suffering.
As we hit the ground, the ladies were often saying sorry.
Although the subject was serious of the subject, there was
much laughter. The ladies couldn't believe how effective the moves were, even when using very little power on the pressure points at the exact angle.
We covered a variety of useful skills including...
* the correct mindset
* how to deal with verbal conflict
* how to protect your space
* trigger points that tell you when to take action
* exactly what action to take
* 6 key moves to take control fast
* how to double your striking power
* how to use an attackers strength against them
* the most effective pressure points... that work!
* and so much more!
Because of the devastating techniques taught, we only make these seminars available to responsible adults, who must sign a waiver promising to only use minimum force
to stay safe.
