TESCO QUITS MINKE BUSINESS!

Supermarket giant Tesco is taking whale meat off the shelves in its Japanese stores - just days before the deadline Greenpeace set them.

The UK's leading retailer was selling fresh and canned whale meat across Japan until they pressed it to stop supporting whaling.

Japan kills more than 800 whales in the North Pacific and Antarctic each year, flouting a worldwide ban on commercial whaling.

GM RULING WIN

Thirteen Greenpeace volunteers who stopped a shipment of genetically modified crops from entering the UK have had a charge against them dropped.

The charge alleged that they had endangered the safety of the MV Etoile when they stopped it docking at Bristol to unload its GM cargo in June.

South Wales Magistrates Court ruled that the volunteers had no case to answer, but they must still stand trial on another charge.

ESSO STRIKES AGAIN

As a taste of what's to come under a second Bush term, one of President Bush's climate advisors has just said that global warming is a myth.

Myron Ebell, a director at the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI), told Radio 4 that climate change claims are "ridiculous, unrealistic and alarmist".

Esso, the world's largest oil company, gives vast sums to groups that spread doubt about climate science. The CEI is one of them.

AIKIDO - THE WAY OF HARMONY

One method available for us to experience harmony with our environment is to practise the Martial Art of Aikido. This is an Art of Peace that develops in us an acute awareness of our surrounding environment, the ability to be calm, relaxed and centred.

Aikido is the way of harmony with universal energy. It was founded by Master MORIHEI UESHIBA, who gained the skill to control many attackers at will. He was also regarded as the most spiritual person in Japan and spent much of his later years in study, prayer and contemplation.

THE POWER OF WORLD COMMUNITIES

People have lived in communities for thousands of years since the dawn of humankind. We all choose to live in families, tribes, villages, groups of travellers, or in communities where people live together for a shared purpose. In some countries people live in extended families which include parents, children, grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins all living in the same house, or very nearby.

The word community makes us think of pulling together, sharing, caring and loving each other, which can happen in many kinds of groups. Equally if we do not respect each others rights we cause conflict and argument.

The early people of the planet Earth were born into a tribe, which they belonged to for life. Tribal members lived by a code of practise or a set of rules decided by tribal leaders. Often life revolved around hunting, farming, or herding with everyone working as part of a team. They also used teamwork to defend their territory against nearby tribes.

Many people today still live together in small tribes, although it is becoming less common. Living in or close to towns and cities the way of life is far removed from the traditional one. Tribal leaders continue to try to keep members loyal to their roots and sense of community.

Travellers, Nomads or Gypsies are groups of people who have chosen to move around together. They tend to go to places they are drawn to or where they can find work. They may visit sacred sites, festivals and fairs in different parts of the country. Being in a community of any kind with people who share beliefs and interests, creates a sense of belonging and a common purpose.

OUR CHANGING WORLD

These days it is normal for people to live with just their immediate family, sometimes thousands of miles away from other family members. It seems that the more advanced we become technologically the more we lose our tribal values and sense of community. Without the extended family support we can encounter more difficulties in solving our problems.

Sometimes it can be frustrating to live with the same people all of the time, but our families are important to us. They teach us about life in the wider community and give us support when we need it, in return they may need our support from time to time. In this small group we learn tolerance, forgiveness, and empathy for other people's difficulties.

Living in a community is a great way of learning about ourselves and how to live with other people. Knowing our boundaries and who we are helps us to understand how far we can push other people and when to stop. We all have a mixture of the same hopes, dreams, concerns and fears and can understand the similarities and differences between people.

An ideal community is about being free to be who we are, to live in a safe place where we can express our beliefs, without fear of reprisals. We are all individuals and all equal in the eyes of spirit. Harmony and balance is achieved when all members give energy to the family unit, instead of removing energy in a selfish manner.

Some people live in intentional communities that have been set up because they share interests and for a common cause. These can be based on religion, spirituality, health and awareness, sustainability and self-sufficiency etc. Many communities believe that they are setting an example and creating a positive vision to inspire other people.

One of the BEST methods of using mind and body in harmony is to ground ourselves and to breathe deeply. We can re-balance our chakras and Boost our energy centres using the ancient art of Yoga, a tried-and-tested method of training.

GET CONNECTED

We are all part of the Global Community and with technology, communication with people from around the world occurs daily. We must accept the differences between people across the globe, learn to understand more about other cultures, countries and people. Lots of people live in a variety of different countries, creating a multi-cultural and multi-racial society. We are all connected to each other and the universe.

There are several ways we show which tribe or group we belong to : The clothes or uniform we wear, hairstyle, colours we choose, facial expression, our perspective on life etc.

Cultures across the world share a love of rituals, festivals, and celebrations because they give us a sense of joy, happiness and well-being that is essential for our spirit. We balance our lives by working hard at the mundane chores, so we can be free to have fun, relax and celebrate life.

To be really connected and in harmony with our environment we must balance our positive and negative energies. This can be achieved in many ways and the aim is to find the middle path between : Yin/Yang, Positive/Negative, Give/Receive, Male/Female, Light/Dark etc.

The human body is made up of atoms which are found throughout the universe. These atoms are of chemical elements such as carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, calcium, and iron. An element is defined partly by the vibrational rate of its atoms, and the forces they exert on other atoms.
