Aiki Peace Week 2019 photos and video were taken on 19th September.
For the 8th year, Sensei Tony Wilden 5th Dan and the Arun Aikido Club hosted their unique Aiki Peace Week Seminar in Bognor Regis, West Sussex UK as part of the United Nations peace celebrations.
Arun Aikido Club students who trained were...
Sensei Tony Wilden, Sensei Robin Wilden, Sensei Natasha Hadwick, Samuel Wilden, Josephine Wilden, Kate Jackson, Michael Carroll, Daniel Grey, Rebecca Holland, Katarzyne Wielopolska, Anja Szarowicz, and Aleksander Dwelly.
Sensei Piers Cooke 7th Dan and Sensei Neil Starks were unable to attend this year. Piers was on holiday, and Neil was preparing students for their black belt gradings. I think you'll agree that these are both very valid reasons :)
Sensei Tony began the seminar by taking the students through a unique breathing and meditation exercise. This was designed to encourage mental and physical relaxation and to release stress and tension.
He then took the warm up, which included deep breathing technique, meridian and lymphatic massage, tibetan yoga, chi kung, and some of the special aiki exercises as practised by Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei, the founder of aikido.
These unique exercises were all designed to release stress, aid relaxation, improve flexibility, and balance students energy centres (chakras).
Tony then moved on to a series of partner exercises, with an emphasis on harmonious connection. Students even practised some of the moves with their eyes shut, and were surprised when the power increased!
Before the break, when the junior students were to leave us, Tony led students through another meditation journey, which involved increasing peaceful ki energy and then sending it out to the world.
At the end of the first session Sensei Tony awarded a copy of the Art of Peace book donated by Sensei Tony. It covers many of the sayings of Aikido founder Master Morihei Ueshiba O-Sensei.
The lucky recipient was Michael Carroll whose name was picked out, well done :)
Aiki Peace week 2019
After the break Tony continued to work on a series of relaxed aikido techniques with a focus on improving students ukemi. This often involved allowing the moves to flow rather than attempting to control the training partner.
We also covered 2 person attack and correct timing, and other aiki principles.
At the end of this years Aiki Peace Seminar Tony led the students through their 3rd meditation journey which involved developing powerful golden light in the hara building up its power. Then sending healing energy out to the universe.
Many thanks to students that attended... it is much appreciated!
After an excellent seminar, we raised £80 in mat fees and donations, which was sent to Aiki Extensions for the important work they are doing all over the world.
