Yes, I believe it is possible to reach a state of spiritual harmony through the study and practise of the art of Aikido.
In fact, there is a solid example of this in the life's work of master Morihei Ueshiba, who founded the art. Also, by looking at some of the top instructors, and the message they send out, they are clearly in an advanced state of harmony.
There are many creative, innovative instructors who teach the principles of Aikido in seminars and workshops. The aim of this is to encourage long-time and new students to use Aiki principles of harmony in their daily lives.
This is encouraging for the future of this unique martial art, and gives us all the hope that we can achieve our life goals of harmony, love, peace, and happiness.
BUT, the Aikido world, just like every other aspect of life, has it's fair share of negative people. There are many 'discussions' over which style of Aikido is the right one. Also arguments over the fine details on how a technique should be practised and taught.
Many instructors do not pass on their knowledge to students in an efficient manner, and advanced students 'protect' their instructor from the lower ranks.
Then there are the numerous students who resist techniques on purpose and generally give everyone a hard time.
I could go on, but, I think this gives you a good idea of some of the many problems that arise during practise.
Why does this happen?
Well, the art of Aikido, tends to hold up a mirror so that students can have a good look at themselves. Of course, by looking we see a picture that we don't like. So the choice to students is clear...
1 - Work on clearing and letting go of weaknesses and ego.
2 - Criticise the weaknesses of others.
I believe the path of Aikido can help everyone reach spiritual harmony and enlightenment in their lives. But, the further you walk along it, the more difficult it gets.
This is the same with all paths to freedom!
Studying Aiki Principles can help you to Fast-Track your skills. Remember that... Action is the KEY to Your Success :)
